30 days Yaoi challenge

Day 20 - Favorite theme. (School life, vampires, neko.. ect..) : Slice of life

I like “slice of life” though depending on my mood, I might prefer to read others themes from time to time.
Yamada Yugi would be my ref. for this theme but as I have already spoken about her, let’s pimp… Wait ! I already spoke about Suzuki Tsuta, Yamashita Tomoko, Kusama Sakae, Ogura Muku or Kinoshita Keiko (aka : my next fav’ mangakas for”slice of life BL”) so… I’m going to speak about Kyuugou. Sora wo Daite Oyasumi is my fav’ title by her (if not the only one I follow) It’s an interesting story with contraried (but human) feelings. The art is great and though the plot is kind of sad, it’s nice to follow. My only apprehension is I’m not so sure that I’ll like the final pairing (if there is one). I don’t want ShujixRoku (or RokuxShuji) and I’m ok with OzuxRoku. Ozu isn’t the most gentle and honest guy but he’s young and he doesn’t know what to do to help the guy he loves. But to me, it feels like he really cares for Roku and he’s just bad at expressing his feelings.
Sora wo Daite Oyasumi doesn’t fit perfectly the theme (it might be more “school life”, “twins” or “drama” than “slice of life”) but sort of, and as I’ve never spoken about it before, it’s the occasion.

1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with and why.

Yumeji 1 Chôme 4. Definitively. Well… Basically, it’s the only one I finished and that you can access.

For reasons, let’s say I love some charas and their relationships. It’s kinda fantasy (yôkai and stuffs) but mostly about the love and daily life of young guys with some (light ?) personnality problems. Though there are points I dislike in it, I’m mostly happy about the outcome and feels a real attachment towards it.

YUMEJI 1 CHOME 4 A TROIS ANS !!!! \o/

Et… Malheureusement, pas grand chose de spécial à se mettre sous la dent pour ce qui est de l’histoire d’Aoi et Fûga.
J’ai quand même updaté la galerie (il était temps), la timeline (en rajoutant quelques évènements des “Histoires de Tôkyô” ou par rapport à la partie sur Ono) et rajouté une page récapitulant les anniversaires de chacun (car oui, j’ai pour ambition de faire une image anniversaire pour chacun de mes persos un jour ou l’autre)
Du côté d’À visage caché, update de “Sortie de terrain” avec le chapitre sur Naoto et l’ajout d’une page sur “L’académie Raito”, soit une série de chibicomics mettant en scène les persos de la partie dans leur vie courante de lycéens. Je me suis aussi finalement décidée à mettre le prologue de “Pain” en ligne car j’avoue que c’est une des parties qui me motive le plus et j’ai hâte de pouvoir travailler dessus.

Pour le reste, j’attends un peu car j’aimerais laisser aux lecteurs le temps de découvrir un peu mieux les persos de “Sortie de terrain” avant de passer aux chapitres postérieurs au lycée.

Day 21 - Link to your favorite fanfiction. : Une chose précieuse

A KidxHakuba fanfiction, written in french by Claude. Dagron gave me a link to this fic many years ago and I LOVED it ! ♥

Day 22 - Hardcore or softcore?

It depends my mood. I’m ok with softcore, as well as hardcore. But my fav’ titles are generally softcore. You’ve got sex scenes but nothing too hardcore.

Day 23 - Favorite type of male. (appearance) : Yani Ibrahim

Ok… I already spoke about Yoneda Kou’s or Yamada Yugi’s seme so for a change, I’m going to pick the seme from a manga I read this morning : Yani from Corsair - Eigetsu.
Appearance-wise, he’s not totally my type but considering I’m not a big fan of long-haired character, he’s a lot more my type than any others charas from this manga. Plus, he’s well-built and though Sesaam attitudes kinda annoys me, I like his devotion towards him and his general attitude.

Day 24 - A yaoi that made you mad. : Suki Toiunoni Nazekashira

I remember a scene in Soba ni oitene by Sakuragi Yaya that made me mad… The seme way saying something about the differences between a man and a woman and I really hated his lecture. But, I still found the character interesting and liked the manga.
For Suki Toiunoni Nazekashira by Abe Akane, though some points were interesting, I hated the relationship between the uke and the seme and I was hoping to see them breaking-up. So yes, that yaoi made me mad. I’m not a big fan of manipulative seme, and even less fan when the seme feign indifference to make the uke act according as he wants instead of communicating and building a relationship with him.

Day 25 - Your favorite drawing style. : Seishun Hanashinjuu

Some years ago, I wrote on a website that I like “Nanae Chrono, Kazusa Takashima, Kawai Hideki, Takarai Rihito, Yamamoto Kana and Sumomo Yumeka drawing’s style”. Now that I think about it, I should add Kazuaki, Hirama Mitsunaga and Haruko Nagoya into the list. And I’d like to mention Tojoh Asami too. Her style is not my fav’ but she’s the author of one of the very first yaoi pic I fell in love with (Denkou Sekka Boys) She was a great artist. But, I’m gonna pick Kawai Hideki for this one.
I spoke about Kawai-sensei previously but never (on tumblr) about one of her latest work : Seishun Hanashinjuu. This manga is seriously beautiful. The cover is wonderfull, the story is great and intriguing (though sometimes confusing and Yamazaki, what happened to you ?), the art, the page setting… everything is love and I so want Takenaka to finish (and be in love) with Yamazaki (whith his middle-school appearance please) at the end.

Day 26 - A yaoi you’ve been intending to read/watch. : Kimi to Parade

I first saw Kojima Lalako’s arts on Pixiv. I found it very cute and since then, she was one of those artist I follow. I was really happy when she started her pro works but though I’m saying this, as of now, I only own a “Neko no yomeiri” copy. It was a cute read and I really like the cover but the stories didn’t leave me a strong impression. Still, I’m really interested in “Kimi to parade” and I intend to read it.

Day 29 - A yaoi that made you happy. : Deadlock

A long time ago, I saw Deadlock novel cover and I thought : “That looks great !”. But considering my level in japanese, it was no use to try to read that story. Then, recently, a manga adaptation from this novel started to run in Chara.
Deadlock might not be the title who fits the best for a “made you happy” category - prison BL is kinda too serious for that - but I was really happy to be able to read this manga. The plot is interesting, you’ve got good-looking charas and great art. It’s not so realistic but the story is nice to follow and knows how to pick your interest. The relationships between the different prisoners and the investigation are intriguing, Yuto and Dick love-story is cute and generally speaking, it’s great to see Yuto, Dick and the others in a manga format.

Day 30 - A yaoi you will always love. : Saigo no door wo shimero

The easy answer for me would be “Saigo no door wo shimero” as I really love Yamada Yugi and this title, and as I feel lazy and non-imaginative today, I’ll stick to this one.
copy/paste from one of my old post : I’m usually not a big fan of love triangle (and not a big fan of B-Boy/Libre either) but I truly love this one.

I love Honda/Nagai pairing and their relationship’s development is interesting to follow. They’re not the typical seme/uke and even the love triangle with Saito is amusing to see. There are bitter moments, cute ones, sexy ones… All is great and though I would have liked a proper conclusion to the love triangle (or to be more precise : to see Nagai caring only about Honda and Saito finding a lover), the ending was satisfying and fun in his own way.

I’m reading “gakkou no sensei” by Matsumoto Kazura. At first, the story looked a bit strange but finally, it’s a cute read.

The story deals with a novice teacher who, after various complications, started to teach in a school for animals (or kappa) who wish to be human. So you’ve got various animals with a complicated past and the good natured man who tries to help them.

I wasn’t so convinced at first (it was ok but not memorable) but then, Yuki & Nora’s story pick my interest. Basically, their pairing follows the idea “stray cat and possessive seme” meet his “princess who have no clue about the real world”. Not so original but I liked it. The seme falls in love, princess starts to care for him, they got separated, both grow up independantly (but still longs for the other) and got reunited years after (and make love ?). It sounds like a fairytale except they’re male cats with some cats problem. They’re very cute together and I like their respective evolution.
Other than them, you’ve got different charas (the teacher, a dog, a rabbit, fox, squirrels, kappas, etc.) and various pairing possibilities. NoraYuki are my fav’ but there are others interesting ideas.
